Missouri Commission: Easy Access To Parks Is A Human Right

[Hannibal] The parks department has been charged with either finding a way to open that park up to the entire community, or sell the property.
We have heard there is resistance in the neighborhood to changing the status quo. However, the status quo is not fair when public dollars are being used to maintain a park that is not accessible to the entire community. Sadly, up until a complaint was made to the Missouri Commission on Human Rights about the park, the status quo was tolerated for three decades.

Missouri Gets In On The Act

[St. Louis Dispatch] In April, Conner’s name and photo were used in a flier distributed by the board to bolster claims that the board was the target of racist attacks. Conner’s and the pictures of three other employees appeared under the headline, “Is the attack on the new board majority racially motivated? Fire chief and deputy fire chiefs think so.”

Conner filed the complaint last month with the Missouri Human Rights Commission. It alleges that the board discriminated against him because he’s white. The state has since informed him that it plans to investigate.
