Collective Bargaining A Basic Right

[CLC President Ken Georgetti] said there has been an “excellent reception” so far to labour’s efforts to persuade Canada’s political “caretakers” to craft legislation favourable to labour.

Georgetti cited new bankruptcy protection for workers, improvements to health and safety legislation, the Supreme Court’s decision to enshrine collective bargaining as a charter right and the introduction of legislation by the Bloc Quebecois in Parliament last year that would have outlawed the hiring of replacement workers during strikes.
